Five expensive beginner mistakes

1. Buying Wi-Fi everything. Prefer Zigbee, Thread, Matter, or wired PoE where practical.
2. Skipping the UPS. A power blip can corrupt a NAS or storage card.
3. Running from an SD card long-term. Move important services to SSD or NVMe.
4. Ignoring wet filament. A dryer often fixes stringing and brittle prints.
5. Keeping no off-box backup. Use a 3-2-1 backup plan for anything irreplaceable.
